Preservation of the Sacred in Bosawas
Community Health for Indigenous Communities Project

2003,
Time: 4:47 MINS

This project involves the training of women in health promotion and natural medicine. Women learn practical skills in order to provide medical attention to 25 isolated Miskitu and Mayangna indigenous communities in Nicaragua. Since the project began, 25 women health promoters have assisted over 2000 patients. The project also provides natural and pharmaceutical medicine to some of Nicaragua’s most isolated and marginalized peoples. This video was filmed by Julio Espinoza and Frank Bessai.
