- August 31, 2007- First Annual Joffrey Lupul Golf
Tournament raises funds in support of Change for Children and
the Bissell Centre. Link
- Mario Tema-Mayan Indigenous leader recently visited
Edmonton and his visit was co-sponsored by Change for Children.
Mario discussed the impacts of Canadian gold mines on his community,
what his community of Sipakapa has done, and how Canadians can

- September 6, 2007-Hurricane Felix has resulted
in significant damage in the North Atlantic region of Nicaragua.
The hurricane, and the resulting rains, flooding and mudslides,
has had a devestating impact on the indigenous communities of
hte rainforest region spanning the Nicaragua-Honduras border.
Change for Children and its partners continue to assess the situation
and will be responding to the immediate needs of the affected
populations in the region. Support

- August 14, 2007-The Honourable Beverley
J. Oda was appointed the Minister of International Cooperation
on August 14, 2007. Prior to this appointment, Bev Oda was the
Minister of Canadian Heritage and Status of Women.
- Canada's Overseas Development Aid Policies are
under review in 2007 (DAC review)by Switzerland and Belgium and
full report will be available later this year. A meeting was held
on April 18th, 2007 in Ottawa and Alberta and Canadian NGOs emphasized
the role of southern partners and public engagement as an important
contribution to the impact of CIDA's work in Canada and overseas.

from Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) for new
project in Nicaragua and Bolivia.
- April1, 2007-Stand Alone Public Engagement funding
from CIDA granted to CFCA for Rural Roots: Communities in Action
