Live
from Nicaragua: April 30th
Amazing things can happen
when you combine innovative technology, creativity, and passion
for justice. This is what the Video Conference for Hope has managed
to do in just its second year.
So
what is a Video Conference for Hope anyways?
Video conference technology allows communication to happen in real
time with two or more people at different locations via video. This
technology will be utilized by 50 schools in Alberta, United States,
Australia and beyond to raise awareness and funds for education
in Nicaragua.
Participating schools fundraise throughout April and March and then,
on April 30th, partake in a 24 hour marathon of educational activities
focused on the state of education and poverty in Nicaragua. The
Video Conference for Hope will be live during the first 12 hours
of the 'marathon'. It will include a number of 30 minute segments
including live segments from Change for Children partner FUNARTE
in Esteli! The money raised will support the construction of a primary
school in Esteli. Hundreds of youth, incredible international partners
- you cannot help but be inspired. Thank you to Terry Godwaldt and
all Queen Elizabeth High School in Edmonton, AB who are the founders
of this project.

3rd Annual Doctors and Derrieres: Thursday May 8
~ Posing for a Global Cause~
Latitude 53 Gallery, 7pm-11pm
An art auction
fundraising event where medical students, dental students, health
professionals and doctors from Edmonton’s hospitals take off
their white coats to raise money and awareness for international
health projects.
Once a year in the space of a month, a group of health workers pose
nude for 21 local talented artists. Art pieces in diverse mediums
celebrating the human body are then donated by each artist to be
auctioned off at the main event. This year there will be more than
50 pieces up for auction. Proceeds will support Change for Children's
helath project in El Salvador and IMHIS.

Children's
Rights Mural Project: June
Celebrate with us the incredible work of Ed Carson who has accomplished
amazing results over the past 25 years in his work with children
in Canada and in Nicaragua. Our Children's Rights Mural Project
involves the creation of two public art murals - one in Edmonton
and one in Managua over the next six months. Three mural painters
from our partner organizations INPRHU and FUNARTE in Nicaragua will
join us in June to work with Edmonton artists to create a mural
on the second floor wall of St. Angela's school in Edmonton. A similar
mural will be painted in Managua in September as part of our Children's
Rights Project there.
Change for Children's
rich history promoting art as a tool in rights education and solidarity
has been largely facilitated by Ed Carson. Join with us in celebrating
his incredible work.
