Change for Children has a long history of facilitating
delegations of Canadians working with our partners overseas. Through
these visits Canadians are immersed in the realities of communities
in the developing world and are involved in a reciprocal exchange
of knowledge. Each delegation makes a significant contribution of
resources and time to Change for Children projects.

Project H.O.P.E means, Hands open
to people everywhere; Project H.O.P.E. is a part of the Global Projects
Program, a service of the Students’ Association of Grant MacEwan
College. Project H.O.P.E. fundraises, promotes awareness of global
issues, and helps to build needed infrastructure within the global
community. By partnering with organizations such as Change for Children
and their partners, Project H.O.P.E. builds and sustains strong
ties within the communities its members travel to.

For the last four years, Change for Children has partnered with
Kindness in Action, a charity that mobilizes dental professionals
to bring world-class dental care to communities where dentists are
virtually unknown. In 2005, Dr. Don Danchuk (right) visited the
BOSAWAS rainforest biosphere in Nicaragua to provide much needed
dental care to remote indigenous communities. A 2007 dental bridgade
visited Esteli, Nicaragua.
"The experience is indescribable.
You never forget the feeling of being able to make such a difference
in people's lives"

Acupuncture Works! is a delegation of Alberta health practicioners
who partnered with Change for Children in January 2007 to be
the first Alberta acupuncture brigade to travel
to Nicaragua. For two weeks Acunpuncture Works! treated
physically handicapped children at the Pajarito Azul orphanage in
Managua. The teams' intent was to explore how acupuncture could
impact communities with limited access to health care due to poverty.
Andrea House (below) is an Edmonton
acupuncturist who approached Change for Children with the idea.
