“Education
is a basic human right and fundamental to the fight for
human dignity and freedom.
For 125 million children and 880 million adults, that right is violated
everyday”
- Global Campaign for Education.
Class Action is a way in which schools
in Canada can contribute to education solutions through partnership
with Change for Children.
Access to education continues to be a major problem in the communities
where Change for Children’s southern partners work. Children
throughout Latin America and Africa are growing up illiterate and
uneducated, a situation which further inhibits their capacity to
break the cycle of poverty.
Schools and community organizations involved in Change for Children’s
Class Action program have an opportunity to make a real difference
by fundraising to support education project globally and using this
activity to learn about issues of poverty, gain leadership skills
and bring to life the Right to Education in their school.
HAVE YOU JOINED VIDEO CONFERENCE
FOR HOPE AS A FUNDRAISER?
Congratulations for getting your class
in action! Funds raised by Video
Conference for Hope will go towards the construction
of a much needed primary school in Esteli, Nicaragua.
What impact your funds will have:
• Contribute to the development of a secure
an accessible school for 200 children to receive basic education
• Increase education and literacy rates
by eliminating barriers of walking long distances
• Ensure the children of Barrio 18 de Mayo
in Esteli can achieve their basic Right to Education and all the
benefits that that affords!!
It is amazing the impact a permanent school can have in impoverished
regions!

How are schools raising funds?
We are always amazed at the creativity of youth and schools in their
fundraising methods; here are some examples:
• a good old fashioned bake sale
• host informational events and ask for
donations
• Hungry for Change: collect pledges for
a fasting event, or lunch money for one day
• encourage all students to collect donations
from the people they know over a period of time (Five buck Fridays=
20 students collect $5 from five people and you have raised $500!)
Success is in
participation - if everyone participates, incredible things can
happen. Fundraising schools have set a minimum fundraising
goal of $500.
Funds raised should be sent to:
Change for Children Association 2nd Flr, 10808-124 St Edmonton,
AB T5M 0H3
Please indicate ”Video Conference for Hope” with your
