"Global Education has given my students the ability to look at the world through a different and more comprehensive lens. They appreciate what they learn and they believe that the understanding that they gain can make them more responsible global citizens"

Change for Children's Global Education Program works to build hope and concrete skills to allow real, long term change through programming in the following areas:

Knowledge: Understand international social and political issues, awareness of history, understanding of a sustainable environment

Skills: Critical thinking and problem solving skills, evaluate different points of view, analyze local and global issues

Attitudes: Responsible citizenship, a concern for injustice, respect for human rights, an appreciation of the urgency and importance of indivdidual awareness and action

Change for Children's interactive, fun and age-appropriate workshops are developed to enrich the Alberta k-12 Social Studies curriculum, helping concepts come to life through practical examples from our overseas projects. Book us for a presentation at your school, university, conference or community group!

Supporting Global Citizenship Development

CFCA defines Global Citizenship as an understanding accompanied by a set of skills and informed action that engages the individual and the community in thought, action and dialogue with and for the global community. Global Citizenry, which encompasses understanding and active engagement with concepts of human rights, peace, diversity, conflict resolution and active participation, is increasingly becoming a very necessary set of skills to navigate today’s changing world.

As communities become increasingly diverse, borders less clear and conflicts more visible, the need for responsible, engaged global citizens is felt on an individual and community level. Albertans seek ways to understand and affect their worlds and to ensure positive a future for themselves, their families and their world – CFCA’s Education Program seeks to support and facilitate this process.

“Children are the living messages we send to a time that we will not see.”  Neil Postman

More about CFCA’s Education Program

Change for Children’s Education Program is based around programming that helps build connection between participants’ lives and the lives of people living in poverty around the world. We aim to create comprehensive, holistic programming that offers Canadians a variety of resources and activities addressing the complex nature of global poverty and social justice issues. The aim of our program is to engage, inform and empower Canadians to act in ways that lead towards social justice.

Change for Children’s Education Program is about more than examining the root causes of poverty – we are also interested in seeking out the root causes of privilege, and in encouraging people to look within their own communities for the change that we seek. We hope to provide resources and programming that serves the needs of teachers, students and activists alike, and are particularly focused upon youth engagement.
